Niklas was partner in Kazaa before Skype. Kazaa was file sharing software for pirate music. They wanted to create platform for sharing music, but they ended up in losing a lot of money, investor money and got into huge lawsuits. They had over 500 000 000 downloads but no business model. Kazaa went into bankcruptsy. Big fuckup!

Niklas said that without lessons learned from Kazaa, he and team never got skills to build up Skype. Lessons you learn in failing may be important in your next startup and without Kazaa they would not be Skype. Skype made Niklas Zennström multimillionaire and he sais failing is part of business, get used to it.
